Specialized in orofacial myofunctional disorders, lactation support, and early childhood speech, language, & feeding development

Sierra Pines Speech Therapy and Myofunctional Services is independently owned and operated by Sarah Estes, a California-licensed speech-language pathologist who provides services for individuals and families in-person or virtually. Sarah earned her Masters of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology at California State University, Sacramento and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence with American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). In addition to the standard education to become a qualified licensed speech-language pathologist, Sarah received specialized instruction and training for orofacial myology through the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM). The extensive training has led her to become a certified member of several organizations associated with myofunctional disorders, such as Airway Circle, MyoMunchee, and Feed the Peds. Sarah works closely with local dentists, orthodontists, and bodyworkers to holistically target the areas of dysfunction and improve overall treatment outcomes. With a specialty in orofacial myofunctional therapy, Sarah offers her expertise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech and swallow dysfunction caused by maladaptive motor patterns that have impacted the orofacial structures (tongue, lips, jaw, dentition).

Sarah is also a Certified Lactation Counselor who provides pre- and post-natal support to individuals that wish to breastfeed their baby. Education, guidance, and support services are offered as a means to help mothers overcome challenges such as latching difficulties, low milk supply, and pain during breastfeeding. Sarah works collaboratively with the breastfeeding parent to problem-solve and develop solutions that fit the needs of both mama and baby.

Additional areas of speciality include providing treatment for early childhood receptive and/or expressive language delays, and coaching parents on ways to safely introduce solids to their babies between 4-10 months of age.

Sarah is passionate about providing high-quality services and treatment to individuals and families that she serves.
